Hi All,

I would like to create a html page with 2 columns.
Untill now, no problem.
Due to the quantity of information, I would like to add a vertical scroll bar
Untill now, no problem...
But, in the second column, and only in this one, I would like to add a horizontal scroll bar... (due to the fact that I have long lines to display)
and of course, keep the vertical alignement (1 to 1) between the info located within the first and within the second column
It should be like in excel, when you use the panes (the vertical one) (and freeze panes)...

I already tried solutions with different notions like, frames, table, float div, but unsuccessfully... The difficulty is to get a (the same) vertical scrollbar for both columns and a horizontal scrollbar only for the second one.

Anyone an idea?

with kind regards,

Hi,

Do you want to work with tables ( <tr><td></td>...) or frameset? If it's frames your unsing: I guess if set the width of the second frame to a fixed value, the horizontal scrollbar will automatically appear. if not: check google for frame attributes...

Thx Mistervinnie,

You're right, but a detail (!) does really annoy me in your proposal... the 2 vertical scroll bars (of both windows) aren't linked together, and we lose rapidly the link between the info in a frame versus the info in the other... The 2 windows are really independant...

Just one request, pleeeease don't use frames. They're deprecated and there are surely better solutions. Tables are one (also not ideal solution). Maybe look at a javascript framework for UI generation, they have stuff like this.
